Lincoln was found on the side of the road, left for dead at about a month and a half old. He had severe head injuries, his side was torn open and he was almost frozen to death. He shouldn’t have recovered, but five years later, he is doing fine. He is certified by Therapy Dogs International and has earned the AKC Canine Good Citizen. Lincoln and I make therapy visits to area hospitals and nursing homes several times a week and everyone loves to see him and get a big, wet pit bull kiss.

lincoln 03-14-09Lincoln lives with several other dogs, all of whom are rescues, mostly from Illinois Valley Animal Rescue, including another pit bull, an American bulldog and a pair of Rottweiler mixes.

Lincoln was a very sick boy when he was about 3 months old. His scalp would not reattach to his skull. He was attacked by another dog when he was about a month and a half old and still shows the scars from the injuries to his head and side.

Lincoln decided a small child was the perfect place to rest his head during a fundraising event for Illinois  Valley Animal Rescue in La Salle, Illinois.  As the IVAR ambassadog, he makes regular appearances at fundraisers and promotional events.

Lincoln2Lincoln loves to visit the guys at the Illinois Veterans Home in La Salle, whether relaxing in the TV room or while they are playing BINGO. Lincoln doesn’t mind getting dressed up to promote IVAR fundraisers or other local events. He is happy to put on wigs and costumes and pose in strange places for photos.

Lincoln also has his own FaceBook page.

Make sure you visit him at Lincoln The Pit Bull.
