Rescue Dog of the Week

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to adopt one of the most exceptional dogs we have ever met – and at For Our Friends, we meet a lot of dogs!

To meet Max is to fall in love right away! He’s good looking on the outside with a heart of gold on the inside. Max is seeking a forever or foster home to finally lay on a nice soft surface and feel safe. You can tell that this dog has spent many years lying on concrete or a hard surface due to a lot of callouses on his body. He hasn’t had an easy life and yet he adores everyone he meets, human and canine. He weighs 75 lbs and at least 1/3 of that weight is comprised of his head. He is a dream dog and will fit well pretty much in any home – he just needs love.

We rescued this big friendly boy from the Manhattan ACC a couple of weeks back – he was left there by his family along with his 13 year old sister Nina (she was rescued by another group). He lived with cats as well as 5 children ages 2-17. He is house-trained and knows multiple commands. He is really great with kids. He is a 7 yr old America Bulldog/Pit Bull mix. He is very loving, affectionate, walks very nicely on the leash, licks children, and is just an easygoing, go with the flow kind of dog. Please take a chance on Max, you will be so happy that you did!

Max is fully vetted, neutered, and up to date on his shots. You can read more about Max here. He is available for adoption in the New York City/Long Island area; we will consider out of state adoptions within reasonable driving distance. If you are interested in meeting or adopting him, please email For Our Friends at, or call 516.616.3076.

StubbyDog offers the Rescue Dog of the Week feature as a way of helping adoptable dogs find forever homes. StubbyDog relies solely and in good faith on information provided by contributing organizations. We do not temperament test, behavior screen, or background check any of the featured dogs, nor are we involved at any point in the adoption process. StubbyDog does not receive any financial incentive or other consideration for providing this service.
