Rescue Dog of the Week

Meet Fresca! This adorable little 2 year old pit bull mix is so cute, we just can’t take it! For Our Friends rescued her from a municipal shelter on Long Island. She is small and compact – just 45 lbs of wriggling pit bull! And she has the loveliest bunny ears that work like little antennas, showing her every thought and intent. She has a medium energy level, is generally pretty laid back, and just goes with the flow. She adores people, kids to adults, and is friendly to every stranger who greets her. She loves other dogs – she has so many dog friends, male and female, but seems to do best with dogs her size or larger. We have seen her bark at small dogs at adoption events, but she has also politely greeted a small dog. She is very interested in cats she sees outdoors, so cats may not be ideal. She is healthy, up to date on shots, and spayed. She loves toys and will give up her hold on one when you ask her. She is living in a boarding kennel right now and we really want to get her out of there ASAP. She will make a wonderful family dog; she is such a good girl!

Fresca is available for adoption in the New York City/Long Island area; we will consider out of state adoptions within reasonable driving distance. You can find more information about Fresca here. If you are interested in meeting or adopting her, please email For Our Friends at, or call 516.616.3076.
