Humane Society of Calvert County / Sunderland, Maryland

Mission statement: The Humane Society of Calvert County, Inc., improves the community for animals and people by sheltering and protecting animals from harm, placing them into caring, responsible homes, increasing awareness through humane education and community outreach, endeavoring to reduce animal overpopulation and to eliminate cruelty, serving as an advocate for animals by promoting humane standards, and enhancing the relationship between animals and people.

About the organization: The Humane Society of Calvert County came about in 1979 in an effort to improve the lives of the animals in Calvert County, Maryland. Since then, over 10,000 animals have been placed into loving forever homes. The HSCC does not and will not discriminate based on breed or appearance. Since the Maryland Court of Appeals ruling, the HSCC has seen an increase in pit bull dogs in need of homes, but just keeps on doing what they do and saving the animals who need them!

Admission policy: The Humane Society of Calvert County is a limited admittance shelter. They are an all breed rescue and they do try to pull as many as possible from general admittance shelters. All animals are kept until placed.
