StubbyDog’s Rescue Dog of the Week is sponsored by Zobo Pet Products, who will be giving away a free collar for every dog adopted through this program.

Meet Dumpling! Four-month-old Dumpling was abandoned at SF ACC in April 2011. He was emaciated at 24 lbs and had the worst care of demodectic mange and secondary infections that the vets had ever seen. His skin was so raw and infected that he found it difficult to sit down or walk and was literally scratching the flesh off his face off.

He was scheduled to be euthanized, but the vets did say that his conditions were ultimately curable, so Rocket Dog put out the word for a foster home, and luckily, one stepped up. This amazing foster home spent months nursing him back to health with the help of local vets and now, at 1 years old, he is 47 lbs, his skin looks great and he has turned into the most spunky, playful and outgoing dog around! He’s so happy to be alive and healthy, after his first months of life where so uncomfortable.

Dumpling loves people, and does well with most dog friends, with proper introduction. He loves to run at the park and play fetch and is happiest when he gets a good run in every day. He is very good in the house, is crate trained and house broken and likes to bark at skateboarders that go by. He loves wrestling with his foster brother and cuddling up with his people & watching movies. He would probably do best in a home without kids, because he can be ‘mouthy,’ and will be happy with a well-matched dog because he loves to play so much. He absolutely must get plenty of exercise, because he is high energy, and his new home definitely should believe in training and have pit bull experience, because Dumpling is a headstrong little guy. He’s a smart boy, and is eager to please! Dumpling has not been cat tested. Dumpling is up to date on all his shots, neutered, and micro-chipped.

Dumpling is available for adoption through Rocket Dog Rescue, which is located in San Francisco, CA. You can check them out on Facebook or see Dumpling on PetFinder or check out his blog.
