Check-Up!
January 16, 2012
Stubby lived his life on a chain until one day he broke free and ran away. A Good Samaritan found him and brought him to the shelter. Now his real story begins…
I was doing pretty good with one of my resolutions (Eat More.) Marnie feeds me twice a day, but sometimes if I give Matt the sadface, he’ll refill my bowl. And if Matt doesn’t buy it (or even if he does) Lily falls for it every time.
Add that to peanut butter-stuffed Kongs in my crate and I was feasting like a king! I was ready to check this resolution off the list – DONE! Except that yesterday Marnie looked at me and said…
“Do you have a pinhead?”
Matt and Lily began to laugh and Matt picked me up and stepped on a scale. I’ve gained weight! My resolution was working!
Lily confessed that sometimes I look so sad that she has to give me food to cheer me up. Matt said “sometimes I give Stubby food because he looks so sad.”
Everyone turned and looked at me. I gave ‘em the sadface.
“We’re not falling for it, Stubby!” Marnie said.
Marnie said that now I could join all of the other New Year’s Resolutioners in their quest to lose weight.
Now I have to be on a diet…and I don’t like the sound of that. I’m going to practice my sadface some more.
Do your dogs ever have to lose weight? How do they do it?
