Happy Howl-o-Ween!

October 24, 2011

Stubby lived his life on a chain until one day he broke free and ran away. A Good Samaritan found him and brought him to the shelter. Now his real story begins…

Today is Halloween!

Okay, I have to confess: I’m not exactly sure what Halloween is. Lily and Matt are dressed up funny. It’s almost like they’re wearing disguises! The first time I saw them, I barked because I got nervous. They SMELLED like Lily and Matt, but they looked like, well, they looked Not Themselves!

Lily is a ladybug. I know what ladybugs are, but they’re small. Lily is a GINAT ladybug (but don’t tell her I said that, okay? I think she looks cute, even if she would scare the spots off a ladybug family!) and Matt is something called a “vampire.” Vampires have big teeth like dogs and they drip ketchup! Matt keeps taking out his teeth and I keep trying to lick them and Marnie tells Matt to put them back in. All I know is that he keeps putting more ketchup on them, and I keep eating it!

Marnie said that the whole point of Halloween is that you dress up and pretend to be someone else and they give you treats! I’m all for the getting treats part, but the dressing up, well…I’m not SO sure. Lily wants me to dress as a princess, Matt wants me to dress as a superhero, and Marnie wants me to dress up like an angel.

She’s said she’s either going to keep me on a leash on a tie-down or put me in a crate while she answers the door for trick-or-treaters, though. I’m working on my down-stay in class, but Marnie wants to make sure that I don’t get out because the door is going to be opening and shutting like crazy. (And I still get so excited when there are people at the door.) I don’t care, Marnie says no matter where I end up, I get a treat (and no tricks!)

Do you dress up your dog for Halloween? What are they going as?

The closest I ever got to dressing my pals up for Halloween was the Halloween t-shirts I bought them. They were not impressed.

Our Husky mix is named Storm, so she will be donning a Superman/girl cape and chest plate. ‘S’ is for Super Storm!
