Not Everything is a Bed

August 15, 2011

Stubby lived his life on a chain until one day he broke free and ran away. A Good Samaritan found him and brought him to the shelter. Now his real story begins…

Did you know that not everything soft is a bed? I’m still wrapping my head around this one.

I have a special dog bed in the living room, bought especially for me (although sometimes Lily likes to snuggle up with me on it – I always make room because sharing a bed is sometimes even better than having your own!)

But there’s also a square, fuzzy bed in the living room. It’s not a plush as my bed, but it’s soft and warm and it feels good to roll over and rub my back on it. There’s even a table set up over it so I can get some shade while I sleep! And sometimes Marnie, Lily and Matt eat at that table so I get table scraps.

I just found out that it’s not called a “bed” but a “rug.”

But I still think it’s a bed with a built- in food dish. Which is pretty much the best bed ever, wouldn’t you say?

Today Lily set up some paints at her craft table in her bedroom. Marnie told her to hang on, because she didn’t want Lily getting paint on the floor in the bedroom. Marnie went and got a bed to put under Lily’s craft table!

When Marnie put the bed down, I laid down on it. Because it’s a bed! On the floor! So it must be for me! Although that bed looked kind of familiar…

She said it wasn’t a bed, but a “towel.” And I realized where I had seen that “bed” before … WHEN I GOT A BATH! Okay, maybe not everything is a bed. (Although towels are soft – just keep them away from the bathtub.)
