A Tale of Two Therapy Dogs

As an inherently romantic society, many of us love talking about how we were “born to” do something. “I was born to run.” “He was born a gifted writer.” “I was born to be a teacher.” In reality, the only things we were born to do are eat, sleep, breathe and be social.

Dogs, wine, good friends (old and new), beautiful fall scenery … we can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday! Our event this past weekend at Barrel Oak Winery in Delaplane, Va., was not only a fun way for StubbyDog supporters to meet, greet and share stories, it was an amazing opportunity for us to do what we do best … change public perception about pit bulls.

Being selected to participate in the StubbyDog Elite Superhero Squad with my dog Buddy has been a dream come true for a multitude of reasons. As advocates we have an excellent opportunity to communicate to the public an accurate interpretation of pit bulls and address the discrimination their guardians face every day. It allows us an opportunity to change those stigmas and perceptions.

Promoting Adoptions Through Art

My love for animals began as a young child, and as soon as I was old enough to volunteer, I signed up with my local animal shelter. It wasn’t until a few years, after I took a job as a veterinary assistant, that I started painting pets.
