Months passed and he grew on me. It’s like he just knew me and what I needed, and when and where to cuddle. He knew how to make a happy, sighing noise as if to say, “Thank you lady.” The thing of it was, selfishly, I wanted to keep him. I was going through some bumps in the road of my life and Quinn seemed to ground me.

She was grandfathered in and allowed to live on base until 2012. Since being grandfathered on base, Alex returned from one deployment to then leave for another deployment. A month before he left was when I had come across Nugit and wanted to bring her home!

Enzo came to me quite by accident. Though I have been fighting against BDL since its inception in Ontario, and have my own 11-year-old “substantially similar” grandfathered dog at home, I hadn’t been so deeply affected by the implications of this legislation until Enzo arrived.
