Mali Finds a Home

A year-long wait ends with the perfect family

By Kirstyn Northrop Cobb

A few months ago, we featured Mali as our Rescue Dog of the Week. Mali was found by an employee of the SPCA of Anne Arundel County one evening on her way home. Because local animal control doesn’t adopt out pit bulls, she knew that she could not take the frightened little dog there, so she turned around and brought her back to the AACSPCA.

In time, Mali started to come around to some of the kennel workers. She understood that they fed her and cared about her. Still, a shelter was not a home. The staff held out hope that one day, Mali would find a forever home, but as time passed, that hope started to fade. As one last-ditch effort, a campaign was started to find a home for Mali. Then, after a year, the call came. A woman and her son were interested in meeting Mali. They had another dog, and Mali would have to get along with that dog, but if all went well, she would want to adopt Mali.

Everything went really well. And then it happened – Mali got into their car and went home! The AACSPCA gets updates often. Mali has gained so much confidence. She runs and plays. She loves her canine housemate, Chi. Mali loves her people and sleeps in bed with her human brother every night. Mali even has a blog – you can check it out here!

Congratulations, Mali – your happy ending finally came!
