Ziggy

August 23, 2012

StubbyDog’s Rescue Dog of the Week is sponsored by Zobo Pet Products, who will be giving away a free collar for every dog adopted through this program.

Ziggy was featured on StubbyDog a year ago, but has not yet found his perfect home. He’s a bit of a unique dog, looking for a very special home. Not only is Ziggy deaf, but he is what we call “a character”. He’s very smart, and will do absolutely anything for food. His foster mom taught him a new trick – praying – in just a few short sessions by using the time he spent begging to shape that into a “prayer”. He was able to show off his praying trick by performing in front of the crowd at the 2011 Purina Pet Project event, and the same trick helped him win first place in the Most Talented contest at the St. Louis Pet Expo. Ziggy now drives everyone crazy by trying to pray anytime they are eating, in hopes that they will share their food. In addition to knowing several tricks and obedience commands, Ziggy has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certification. He is also trained in Rally and Agility dog sports, and loves to learn new things.

Ziggy can be rambunctious and needs a home with no young children. He would also prefer to be an only pet, which is the only reason his foster mom has not adopted him herself! Now that he has turned 3 years old, Ziggy is beginning to grow out of his puppy behavior and no longer chews everything he can fit in his mouth. He is not high energy although he does enjoy regular walks or an occasional race around the yard. He will still eat absolutely any food you give him, including bananas (peel and all), bird seed, and any kind of kibble or dog treat ever made. He’s not picky.

Ziggy is not a cuddly type of dog, but if you want a dog to play games with, or go hiking with, or to show off tricks with your friends, Ziggy is the dog for you. Ziggy is located in O’Fallon, Missouri through All Paws Rescue but can be adopted out of state. To find out more, please visit Ziggy’s website at adoptziggy.com or find him on Facebook.
