Mia

August 2, 2012

StubbyDog’s Rescue Dog of the Week is sponsored by Zobo Pet Products, who will be giving away a free collar for every dog adopted through this program.

Mia is a 1-year-old pit bull terrier mix. She found herself in a rural shelter in Utah alone and afraid. She was not putting her best paw forward when meeting new dogs due to being kennel stressed. The good people at Tooele Animal Outreach understood that Mia was just a young pup who hadn’t had the chance to socialize or shine. They contacted local saint and trainer Kendra Beckman, who has fostered and trained many dogs. Kendra offered to take in Mia and work with her to integrate her into a home and a well socialized group of dogs.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Mia quickly came out of her shell and showed everyone that she was really just a big puppy who loved to play! She simply hadn’t ever had the chance. Soon Mia was romping with all of Kendra’s client dogs and personal dogs and became the life of the party. She easily picked up crate training, leash walking, and even went to the town fireworks display without fear! Mia has proven to be an amazing, fun, silly girl with her whole life ahead of her. She has loved meeting new people, including children, but she would do best with dogs her own size or bigger. She hasn’t had experience with cats and it would be recommended that she goes into a home without one.

Mia would love to be a part of an active family that will include her in many fun activities, continue her awesome training foundation, and that is looking for a silly companion for another dog.

Mia can be adopted through TAO in Utah. For additional info, contact Marci Wicks with TAO at [email protected].
