Home Away From Home?

December 5, 2011

Stubby lived his life on a chain until one day he broke free and ran away. A Good Samaritan found him and brought him to the shelter. Now his real story begins…

It’s the Holidays! Like Thanksgiving, the holidays mean food. And lots of it. The house smells delicious, even though Marnie won’t share all the yummy things she’s baking.

(Although Lily did sneak me some pumpkin bread under the table. But don’t tell! I’m pretty sure Marnie doesn’t read this…)

The holidays also mean that Matt and Lily will be off from school for two whole weeks and Marnie will be home from work. So between food and having my family around, you’d think that the holidays would be the best time of the year, right?

Except…

I overheard Marnie talking about finding my “home away from home” for the holidays. I didn’t understand what she meant. It took me such a long time to find this home…now I had to find another one?

Lily was upset and asked why I couldn’t come with them. I guess Lily and Matt are going to their dad’s house for Christas, and Marnie is going to her sister’s…which means no one’s going to be home to take care of me!

Marnie promised me that I would have someone to love and take care of me over the holidays at a place called a “kennel.” But she said maybe someone could come over and take care of me during the day here in the house instead.

I don’t think I get a choice, but if I did, I would choose for everyone to stay home.

Where do your dogs go when you travel? How do you pick a “home away from home?”
