StubbyDog Gratitude List

November 28, 2011

By Laura Petrolino, StubbyDog VP of Operations

No matter how commercialized the holidays become, it is still a time to express how grateful we are. Here at StubbyDog, we are grateful for a lot of things … so many that we started putting together a gratitude list.

So here goes … gratitude from some of the main players at StubbyDog (aka the most wonderful volunteers that every walked the face of the earth):

Jamie Parker: Assistant Community Manager and Rescue Dog of the Week Coordinator

I am thankful to be a part of the StubbyDog community, where I am able to help others understand pit bulls.

I am thankful for my friends who work in rescue. Each day I am amazed at how much they give and how they never lose hope that one day things will be better for pit bulls everywhere.

I am thankful that my family and partner support the volunteer work I do.

I am thankful for my five dogs and how much they enrich my life.

Ingrid Fromm: Webmaster and Editorial Assistant

I’m grateful for my dog Murphy, who teaches me to be patient and calm, comforts me and gives me such incredible love every day.

I’m grateful for StubbyDog – working on the website is beyond fulfilling, and hearing all the amazing stories people write about their dogs lifts my heart again and again. You and your pit bulls inspire more than I can say. I’m lucky for the friendships I made through this work.

Jessica Dolce: Community Manager

I’m grateful for all the shelter staff and volunteers that not only care for our community’s homeless pets year round, but are there this Thanksgiving (and every holiday) working while we’re with our families. Support your local shelter!

I’m thankful for all of our fans, who are, without a doubt, the most positive, thoughtful and fun bunch on Facebook.

Micaela Myers: Managing Editor

I’m thankful for volunteers – collectively I have to believe we are changing the world!

Among those volunteers, I am especially thankful to those who wake up every day and try and save dogs even in the face of overwhelming numbers and great emotional toll.

I am also thankful to the dogs themselves and the tremendous love and joy they bring into our lives.

Debra Caladrillo: Art Auction Coordinator

I am grateful that a brighter future awaits pit bull type dogs because of StubbyDog.

I am grateful to StubbyDog for the daily dose of inspiration and hope they bring to pit bull type dogs, their families and the caregivers that love them.

As for myself … I echo much of what was said, plus I’d like to add my huge, huge, huge gratitude to all those ladies who commented above. All who selflessly and passionately volunteer day after day after day to help StubbyDog continue to pursue our mission to change public perception of pit bulls. They constantly amaze me with their dedication, intelligence and all around amazingness.

We have many other amazing volunteers who help and support us daily, but this core crew is in StubbyDog mode every day, THANK YOU! All of their passion and dedication is truly awe-inspiring.

And finally, I’m grateful to the StubbyDog community, who inspire me daily. The thing I love most about working at StubbyDog is not just the knowing that we are doing great things for pit bulls, but also being surrounded by so many amazing, caring people. It is rare to see people who actively work to create positive change, but at StubbyDog – from our volunteers to our fans – we are surrounded with these heroes.

Thank you!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, and we look forward to continuing to make the world a kinder place for pit bulls!
