Our Fans Are Superheroes

November 4, 2011

Around this time last year, we were just getting our website up, our Facebook community was a few thousand strong (which we thought was unbelievable), and we wanted a fun way for people to get involved and show off their pups … and so the very first StubbyDog calendar contest was born.

At this point it hit me how amazing the StubbyDog community was.

I’m not sure what I was expecting. The calendar contest was one of the first of many events/challenges that really pulled our community together and helped us bring in new fans.

I’d wake up in the morning to find dozens of messages in my inbox and on the StubbyDog wall. Ironically, I started my career in the political sector. I worked on numerous campaigns, both nationally and locally … but in all my time in politics, some of the best run campaigns I’ve seen were during the StubbyDog calendar contest of 2010! I would not be surprised if lawn signs and bumper stickers had been ordered (or at least contemplated) by these fabulous dog guardians.

Needless to say, this year, our whole team was pretty pumped about starting up another calendar contest, not to mention our “StubbyDog Superhero” theme. And once again you all have blown me away with your amazing campaigning. This year, however, something new occurred that is both inspiring and symbolic of how connected our awesome community has become.

This year, instead of just campaigning for yourselves and your dogs, there has been an amazing amount of support for all your fellow entrants.

“Vote for my friend” has been the key slogan this year.

To me, this is so important because it really sums up what StubbyDog is all about. … Working together to create change! Anyone who has spent time on our Facebook page during this year’s contest would know that there is no way I can write about the calendar contest without doing a special call out to our friend, Juno The Pit Bull Goddess (photo above). Juno and her mom are absolutely amazing and have been big supporters and cheerleaders for so many of the dogs that are entered.

Juno has been one of StubbyDog’s biggest fans for a while now. We always enjoy seeing her pretty face and reading her cheery posts on our Facebook page. She is a dog with a very cute face and a big heart, and we love that she is a part of our community!

Thanks Juno!

Voting for the calendar contest ends Nov. 7 at Midnight EST. So if you haven’t voted yet, head on over and pick your favorite superheros.

You can view them all HERE.

Even if you don’t want to vote, head on over because it will surely put a smile on your face. The entries this year were unbelievable. Honestly, there is not one that isn’t calendar worthy.

Also make sure you check out our Superhero Stubbies Video and share it with your friends.
