Kaylee

November 3, 2011

StubbyDog’s Rescue Dog of the Week is sponsored by Zobo Pet Products, who will be giving away a free collar for every dog adopted through this program.

Kaylee was originally called into the national organization, Dogs Deserve Better after concerned neighbors saw the awful state in which Kaylee was living. Kaylee had been stuck in the corner of the yard on a 2 foot chain padlocked to a tree 24/7. When Middle Tennessee Pet Resource Center (MTPRC) volunteers went to check on her this summer, initially her owner didn’t want to give her up but he did let us erect a tarp shelter for her and provide a new water bucket, new dog house, bedding, toys and treats and get her off the horrible chain. We also educated her owner to the hazards posed by Kaylee living outdoors.

We went back to check on her two weeks later and learned that her owner had now decided he could no longer keep her. Kaylee was surrendered to MTPRC on the spot. With no immediate place for her to go, we set off with Kaylee in tow and began searching a safe place for her. Due to lack of available fosters, a kind volunteer offered to let her live in his outside kennel while we worked on finding her an inside long term foster of forever home. Unfortunately, the foster family Kaylee is with can’t keep her, and Kaylee is looking for her own forever home.

Kaylee is wonderful, really wonderful. We think she could be a therapy dog as her temperament is so good. Kaylee is 1 year old, in good health, has lots of bounding energy and loves to play. She does amazingly well with dogs of all shapes and sizes and is great with kids; a home with cats would not be best at this point as she is still young and full of puppy curiosity.

Kaylee is being adopted through Middle Tennessee Pet Resource Center , based in Nashville, TN. She is spayed, up to date on her shots, and heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is $150, and we are happy to transport if needed.

Kaylee has her own video too!
