Sometimes Even Superheroes Get Lost

August 22, 2011

Stubby lived his life on a chain until one day he broke free and ran away. A Good Samaritan found him and brought him to the shelter. Now his real story begins…

Marnie usually takes me on my morning walk, unless she wakes up late. I think it’s my job to wake her up, but my beds are so comfy and the only time I can tell is “breakfast time” and “dinner time.”

This morning Marnie woke up late so she asked Lily and Matt to walk me. Matt likes to walk me alone because he likes to tell me his problems because I’m such a good listener. But Marnie says that he has to bring his little sister along.

Lily does less walking and more singing and skipping. While Matt sounds annoyed I can tell he loves his little sister. Especially because he’s quiet when she tells her Stubby stories.

Lily’s Stubby stories are always tales about where I was before I came to live with them. She insists that I am always a superhero, saving kittens from a tree or orphans from a burning building

(I’m not sure what kittens or orphans or even a superhero is, but they all sound like good things.)

She thinks I ended up at the shelter because even superheroes sometimes get lost and need help. That part of the story is true. Now I just have to prove that I’m a superhero.

Do you guys make up stories to tell your dogs?
