Tomorrow I Go Home

June 20, 2011

Stubby lived his life on a chain until one day he broke free and ran away. A Good Samaritan found him and brought him to the shelter. Now his real story begins…

I couldn’t go home with my new family just yet. They said I had to have an operation! Carl brought me over to the “clinic.”

At first I thought the clinic was the best pace ever! It was much quieter than the shelter. My cage was smaller but my blanket was softer but it didn’t smell like anything! I had to wiggle around on it a bit to make it smell good!

But then I went to sleep and woke up and I was a little sore. I’m not exactly sure what happened, but I feel a little lighter. It was the weirdest sleepover ever!

Carl says that they’ll keep me in the clinic overnight for observation and then tomorrow I get to go home! He told me I was “safe.” If this is what safe is, I like it! But I can’t help but think about all of the other dogs that are still next door at the shelter. There are a lot of pit bulls waiting for their families.

I hope that they’re as lucky as me.

Time to sleep! Tomorrow I go home.

Made me cry……thinking of the 5 months that my Mugsy was in the shelter and the workers who kept giving him reprieves so he could find his way into our lives. Loved Stubby’s story….wish there was one for every homeless pet.
